Daily Blogger - Aurora

Well, it’s finally Halloween! Today, we had a test in first period science. I was worried, but it ended up being easier than I thought. In English class today, our journal subject was to change the sentences, “I think that freedom is good because it helps me do more stuff” and “I like patriotism because it makes me feel good” and give them stronger verbs. After that, we continued our diligent work with our patriotism essays’ and did peer reviewing with 2 other students. A packet was given to us to answer questions and fill out a rubric for the student you peer review for. A second student will also peer review, but they don’t have to fill out all of the packet or give you a grade. For homework tonight, you have to have your parent or another adult read your essay and sign the sheet Mrs. Morrow gave us. I put a picture of the review signature sheet below so that if you lost yours, you can print off this one. You may have already gotten this done because she gave us the sheets yesterday, but it is due tomorrow. I hope that everyone has a safe and fun time trick-or-treating tonight, and Happy Halloween!
Both peer reviewers and your parent must sign this sheet.

Your first peer review has to fill this packet out. (It is a whole packet.)

October 30, 2013 Daily Blogger

Today is Wednesday October 30, 2013 and everyone is in the Halloween spirit…well somewhat. Anyways in science today we filled out our notes pages. Then when the bell rang we all hurried into English class (more or less excitedly) to revise our patriotic essays. To start off the day we wrote in our journals about the following prompt: "How do you show your patriotism?" After we finished writing in our journals we turned in our patriotic essays on blackboard and had our computers read them to us. We did this because sometimes we need to hear our essays read aloud so we can catch our mistakes. Finally we revised our essays. This is what we did in English class today.

Today I am daily blogger. Today in Social studies we took a test over Mexico. Also in English we revised our first graph for the patriotism essay. And handed our essay to blackboard, but before all that we share our essay leads. We also learned how to make the computer read things to us, and how to speak the computer and it will type it out for you.

Today we don't have school because we are on fall break.  We didn't have any English homework over the weekend so I went to Amanda's house with Emma.  We worked on our iBooks project for science.  We had to film our introduction video, which didn't turn out so well, and we made another video for our biotic section.  Amanda want to go for a run so we started running but after awhile we started walking and talking and taking pictures.  After we finished both of those I went home and read my book for reading.  It was a fun day off of school.

10/28/13

Today in English we talked about our new assignment,we're all creating essays for a contest. We brainstormed about patriotism and what it means to us. We clicked on a link on blackboard which took us to a place where everyone could post pins about things that they thought was patriotic. We also filled out boxes with ideas so we have some tomorrow when we start drafting. It was a good day to talk about patriotism since in second period we could hear the band playing songs getting ready for the Veterans Program.

The sun exploded in the sky with rays of sunshine for a brand new week of school full of learning! Today I am the daily blogger! Inq English we had to brainstorm some ideas about what Patriotism means to us. We then shared them on a wall on the computer so then everyone in our class could see our ideas. Then after that we downloaded the packet we will need for our essay we have to write. Mrs.Morrow read us an example of an essay a girl wrote and we had to write down some things that were good that she wrote and some things that she could improve on. We have to have a signature from an adult who proofread our essay's once we're done writing them. Don't forget to have that done by Friday!
Today in reading we took our last quiz over the book we were reading which was Among The Hidden. After that we read our Teenbiz for this week. Then Mrs. Troester  handed out our new books that we have to read which is "Tuck Everlasting." So far today has been pretty easy! I hope everyone has a wonderful week!

I woke up today realizing that I was the daily blogger today. Today we got informed that we are going to write a patriotic essay. We have all week to work on it, and the final draft due on Friday. On Thursday we have to get a parent signature to show that they have read our patriotic essays. Thursday is halloween, so for some of us that is going to be hard to get the parent signature. We brainstormed ideas in our journals right away when we got in to the class. Today we are going to start getting brainstorming ideas with the class to start our essays. This is a contest to see who can write the ultimate patriotic essay. I hope everyone gets a lot of candy on Halloween. Happy Halloween!!!

Daily Blogger 9/23/13

Well today I had to do daily blogger. First thing we did was the Personal Narrative. So we got to work on that the hole entire period. But I got my done so all I had to do was to add some adjectives and the first paragraph kind of needed a little work. Then I got it done so then I read my book from reading. That’s all we did so I guess I better start studying for the math test tomorrow.

Today seems to be going by super fast. In English we wrote in our journals about a good book that we think that everyone should read or what we wanted to read. My favorite that I wrote down is Girl Stolen because mystery books are my favorite and that is one that I want to read.We read some out loud and then we read what we wrote in our journals about getting Youtube un- blocked in our school. Mrs. Morrow made a list of reasons Youtube should be un-blocked. After that we fixed up our personal narratives a little and made a letter for Mrs. Troester and Mrs. Morrow. Then we handed all of that in. It has been a marvelous day.

Aurora writing in her journal.

The printer was going crazy today.

As I woke up this morning, I realized that it was going to be a terrible day because a little reminder showed up on my computer reminding me that I am the daily blogger for Thursday, October 24th. I’ve been dreading this since a week ago when Mrs. Morrow told me that I have to be the blogger for the second time this year. In first period history class with Mr. Hesse, we had a 24-problem worksheet over different countries’ leaders, bodies of water close to them, and many more things. In second period English class, we started off by writing in our journal about if we think that one book should be required to read in the world. I don’t think that you should be required to read any book in the world. We also talked about our journal writing from yesterday to Mrs. Morrow since she wasn’t here because she was at a meeting. She wanted to hear our responses because she thinks that YouTube shouldn’t be blocked so she is going to take some of these ideas to Mr. Brosz. Everyone had to get their parents to sign a piece of paper saying that they checked over their personal narratives. The final drafts of those were due today. I think a few people didn’t get theirs signed so they had their first period teachers look them over and check over them. We also had to write a learning letter that was addressed to Mrs. Troester and Mrs. Morrow. We had to write about our influence on learning and our influence on writing. We were killing a lot of trees today as everyone was printing their papers. That is all we did for English class today. Tonight is the last regular season home game for the O’Neill Eagles football team as they play host to the Ord Chanticleers at 7 p.m. Thank you for reading my post on our 8th grade English class blog!

10/23/13 Daily Blogger

Yes! Today is Wednesday. There is only one more day this week because we have fall break. My day in English class was quite interesting. We started of by doing our journal writing. We wrote about whether or not we think Youtube should be blocked. Most of the people in the class said that they wish it wasn’t blocked, but some thought it may be a bad idea to have it unblocked. We then went on to talk about our lead for our personal narrative. Somehow, that resulted into talking about relieving yourself on the side of the road in Italy. After that, we discussed synonyms for words that could make our writing better. Our homework assignment for the day was having an adult proof-read our personal narratives, and then finish your final draft. Overall I felt like we had a very successful English class, and I learned a lot about how I could fix my writing.
Don't forget to have your parents proof-read tonight!

10-22-13 Blake

Today in English we worked on compound sentences on socrative. We had major technical difficulties. None of us could get on so we had to do it on the board with the whole class. Then we talked about our personal narratives we wrote. Today is also the start of girl’s basketball and wrestling.

The worst day of the week is Monday; the day that you dread the most. This week though we have only four days a week. Our girls basketball season starts tomorrow and today is the last day of volleyball. We started off English class with making a list of three to five things you cherish or in others words value; they could be things you can touch or cannot touch. Then you had to explain why those things are important to you. Next up we went on canvas and checked who hasn’t posted in a while and told Mrs. Troester. To wrap up compound sentences Mrs. Morrow took a few people to get finish compound sentences. The rest of us went on canvas and did our feedback, which is due Wednesday. Remember to do two stars, one wish, and address authors note. We did nothing else in English. It was a pretty easy laid back day in English class.

Remember to do 2 starts and one wish one when you give your feedback!

Hello, today I am the daily blogger!
I am writing about my day in English class. Today in English class we’re working on our feedback. It’s what we have been doing the last two weeks. Isn’t it amazing!
We’ll respond to the authors notes made by other students. Author’s notes are extremely fun to reply on think about it jugging other people’s work, whippy!
I have been having the time of my life in English today. This is what I spend my time on doing instead of my other work, because English is so fun.
