Wednesday January 29th

Beep! Beep! The thermometer reads 100.7 looks like I get to miss a second day of school. Wait what was I suppose to do today. O yeah, Daily Blogger. Man, why can’t I ever have a normal day for me to do this?! For all three of my blog post, I have never been to the English class that day.
I asked three people before I finally got someone who actually wasn’t sick and was here for English. I quote that person, “we watched The Blind Side”. So there you have it! As the numbers of the sick stay the same or get worse, the school system slows.
In the world of sports though, it has rarely been busier. JH boy’s basketball is playing Ord on Thursday as well as I HS wrestling dual with Creighton. Mid-state basketball is also fast approaching.

This has for sure been one of the least exciting weeks of school thus far this year. And one of the most miserable for me.

English class was interesting! The teacher read the announcements and then we watched a movie called "The Blind Sight." It's about a bunch of kids who got blind either at birth or as they grew older. The people in their village thought that blind people in their past life did something horrible and that is why they are blind. So, they are outcasts just because they are blind. But, all that is going to change; yes, they still are going to be blind but, its what they can accomplish while they are blind is amazing. That is what we did in English class. In Science is a whole different story. Mr. Fernau came to Science class to talk about next year. He handed out sheets and what credits were, what classes we were interested on taking next year, etc. That is what we did today.

January 28th, 2014 Daily Blogger

As I scrounged up my belongings to begin another day at school, I knew I wouldn't be up to it. I decided to stay home yesterday because I was sick. Yesterday was the day I was assigned to do daily blogger, since I was gone I decided to do it today!

We all went through first period all drowsy dreading the Nebraska Writing Assessment we've been working so hard for for two months. Then the second the bell rang we all knew the time had come. The time we'd been waiting for to get this over with. During the test Mrs. Troester gave her class some candy to motivate us to try our best and so we could also focus. It was a long and uncomfortable time, but we all accomplished our goal! We had finally made it. Over the whole process of making the graphic organizers and writing essays we all learned a lot. We learned places where we could improve as a writer and places where we excel. Everyone keep up the good work!

One thing that many of you want to consider is studying for the math test this week in Algebra 1/2. It might be kind of easy, but you should study making sure that you're going to pass! Study! Study! Study!
Well it's almost time for lunch I better get going! See you in another month or so!

January 28

You could hear pages being flipped, pencils tapping and students coughing this morning, letting you know it's another work day. Many students were absent yesterday, and today was no different. After catch up time in Reading, I stayed in Mrs. Troester's class along with a number of other students. We then listened to Mrs. Troester and followed her instructions. We all logged into DRC Insight, heard/read the directions, and began our test. Everyone was nervous for the prompt. No one knew what we would have to write our essay on. It actually ended up writing about something that was important to us. Our class wrote practice essays a week ago on a subject like that. It made writing easier for some kids who used the same topic. After second, third, and forth period students submitted their work. When they finished they read or did other homework. Kids that didn't take their tests today will do it later. It has been a pretty calm day in the world of homework.

Daily Blogger!

“Emma! Get UP!! We’re ganna be late for school!!” screamed my sister, Abby. As I drug myself out of bed I remembered I was daily blogger today. That possible ruined my morning. I hate daily blogger, but I do it anyway because I want to get a good grade. My morning was pretty uneventful. The only thing that was shocking was that a lot of kids are sick today, which isn’t that good. The kidless classes obviously didn’t affect the teachers, as we still had mounds and mounds of homework. Without some louder classmates, we had a quiet and non-stressful day. Math was especially quiet.
After hearing the bell, I walked unenthusiastically down the main hall to Mr. Hesse’s civics’ class. As usual we forgot to say the Pledge of Allegiance. Mr. Hesse took attendance. The result was Blair, Justin, and Garrett gone. Despite the absentness’ we still read our Upfront’s and sadly had an assignment. It was pretty easy though, and had about 20 minutes for a study hall.
I meandered to my next class English and Mrs. Troester reminded me of the dreadful news again. We even had more kids gone in second period than we did in first. Right away we grabbed our iPad’s and started on our reflection using the Explain Everything app. I already had my sheet filled out, so I started right away on creating it. Once I got everything done in the app, I voice recorded over it. The room was too loud so Aurora, Wyatt, and I went to Mrs. Morrow’s room to record with the microphones. After some technical difficulties with Aurora’s iPad, we finally got done and headed back to the classroom. Most of the class got it done, but some sadly didn’t due to the time allotted. Also, we had to post our second descriptive essay to our blog.
Kids after kids were dropping throughout the day. “Where’s Sa-?” “Sick.” This question was asked a lot and answered pretty much the same. I came to school feeling great, but left with a cough, runny nose, and sore throat. School should have been let out at 1:00 due to sickness. 69 was the magic number of kids ill by the end of the day. Maybe we are all sick because the school doesn't know a magical thing called a heater! The whole school was freezing! Mrs. Troester had a jacket and scarf on to keep warm. I'm pretty sure it was colder in the school then it was outside. I know we got some budget cuts, but I don't expect to be freezing my butt off because of it. Despite the sickness, we pushed through and had a somewhat successful day. And PLEASE cough into your sleeve instead of in your hands or in the air.

The iPad's we used in English.
