April 2nd Daily Blogger

I walked out of my house and the 21 degree weather hit me hard. Only in Nebraska can you go from shorts and a t-shirt to sweatpants and a big sweatshirt. I then hopped in my heated car and came to school. The bell so rang telling me that it was time to start another day. We had a difficult worksheet in first period Civics. Then we tiredly walked to English class across the building. When we arrived we attempted to enter the class room and avoid the big clutter that we encounter coming in and out of this room because so many kids are in here everyday. Then we got started.

"Four most important things to you" that was our journal topic was for today. When we read some in class I wasn't surprised to hear that many of the boys said girls as one of their most important things. Then we began DGP (Daily Grammar Practice), today we identified the independent clauses of the sentence and what type of sentence it was. Next we went to a website that we have been using for the past few days to practice for the NESA tests. We went to Word choice and did activities 1,3,9,11, and 13 to practice words that sound the same but have different meanings. We spent most of the period completing this on chompchomp.com. Don't forget to finish the quiz given to us at the end of the period.

Overall this was a good day with little homework. It was also a quite day with little going on. Don't forget to finish your quiz and exercises. This is my last time ever being daily blogger hope you have a great rest of the year. Good luck and go Eagles!

As I walk into the classroom I realized that today I ‘m the daily blogger. So today in English we went on Chompchomp.com to do some problems with grammar and we also had to do a worksheet. After English was over my next class was science and in science I studied my vocabulary to get ready for our quiz when I finished I got to work on other homework so that is all I have to say as daily blogger.

April 1st Daily Blogger - Julia Bauer

When I woke up this morning I thought it was going to be just any other boring school day. My perspective on this same old Tuesday changed from the minute I walked in the doors of O’Neill JR/SR High School. As I walk in I could hear laughing over yonder I wonder what this laughing might have to do with. Of course like anyone else I opened my ears up just to hear the whisper of an April Fools joke. It hit me that today is April Fools.
When the tardy bell for 4th period rang I could hear the moans and cries of the 8th grade students at OHS who had English this period. As soon as that bell rang we were put to work. Our first assignment was to write about a funny prank on April Fools you have done, want to do, or it happened to. Of course we had to share these crazy stories. The next thing we had to do in English we went through a PowerPoint the chompchomp.com put together. Mrs. Morrow went through the PowerPoint to help us get the hang of what our assignment would be. When we were finished going through this helpful presentation we moved on to the real work. A 20-problem worksheet from Grammar Bytes.
Throughout my silly day I wound up at my grandparents with my mom. We talked for about 30 minutes. At the end of our visit my grandparents wanted to show us the pictures they’ve put on the fridge of our family and my aunts and uncles families. When we were getting ready to finally leave my grandpa told me he was really glad I was doing band. This was the perfect opportunity for one of my many April Fool’s jokes. I told him I wasn’t going to do it anymore and how my family is disappointed in me for not doing it anymore. The expression and tone of his voice was hilarious! I made sure he knew I was for surely that it was an April Fools joke and we laughed together.

Daily Blogger April 1st

Today was just another typical day at O’Neill Junior-Senior High School. I crept into the mysterious 8th grade hallway wondering why there was no one in there, and then I remembered that it is 8:05 A.M. I started scrambling down to Mr. Hesse’s room because I didn’t want to be counted tardy. He ended up counting me present which elated me. In first period civics, we read an article about segregation in schools. Then we did a worksheet over what we read. This morning was pretty uneventful to say the least.
In second period English, we started off by opening up our journal and writing about our April Fools Day experiences. To be honest with you, I think this day might be the dumbest day ever. Next we worked on our DGP (Daily Grammar Practice) and our sentence was “the hair of the affrighted pedagogue rose upon his head with terror.” Then we looked at slides about parallelism or parallel structure. The slides were messed up but a few of them worked. One of them said that Shane burped with content and that describes our Shayne perfectly. There were examples that really helped me learn how to notice which sentences were parallel and which ones weren’t. Mrs. Morrow called on people to answer the questions. Next the class went to chompchomp.com working on parallel structure and there were some pretty entertaining sounds when you got an answer right. That is what we did for the rest of English class.
Tonight is the first night for what seems like forever that I don’t have something going on. I might take a nap and just sit around and watch TV. There should be some good basketball on tonight. At least it is only a four-day week for me as I have the state geography bee on Friday in Omaha. Stay classy OHS.

Daily Blogger 3/26/14

It's a very warm day today, the warmest day of the week so far. I can't believe that we are so close to summer. Only 8 more weeks!! Track season is going good and I think the girls team can go undefeated again this year. Our first track meet is in April and I'm really excited.

Today in English we are writing our favorite place in Nebraska poem. First we had to write an essay about the place then we had to pick words or phrases to take out and put in our poem. My poem is about Beemer, Nebraska. I chose that place because it's where all my family is and it's where I usually go on the weekends. On friday the our teachers are going to choose four poems to enter into a contest that some people are putting on. The people who win the contest get to go to the capital in Lincoln and have a celebration.

All in all I can see this week being very good in English class. Now it's time to enjoy the weather and inch towards summer. We are finishing out the school year but we have to finish out strong.

Nebraska poem

The Rancho
By Jose Ponce
The ranch where I work is my favorite place to be
The place that taught me what I’m today, a hard
Workingman who would have know that a small
Ranch located in the northern part of Holt County
Nebraska would teach me such passion and love
Toward the animals and outdoors.

Me a young boy that grew up in that grew up in the
Ghetto parts of Las Vegas NE, but one day moved to
O’Neill NE and love what he saw but, what he really love
Was where he worked. Here the sound of the police sirens turned to a
Quiet breeze in the air and the traffic honking turned to
The cows mooing.

And this is why this place in Nebraska is my personal
Favorite because it help me enjoy the outdoor
And learn learn new things, things that would
Have never learned if I were in vegas.

Daily Blogger

Today I'm daily blogger. It wasn't just a day at OHS it was friday. I like fridays because it is almost the weekend. The weekend means a lot to me because then I can spend time with my family and friends.

Today in english class we had to write a poem that was due at the end of class. I really don't understand poems. But this one about my favorite place in Nebraska. My favorite place was Memorial Stadium because I'm a BIG Husker fan. Most people like other things in Nebraska but my is Nebraska Football. Writing is not my favorite thing but it has to be done. In math class we are getting ready for NESA. We are learning things we already know.

I was daily blogger today and now its almost over and I can't wait till the weekend. So have a good weekend!!!!!

Dailey Blogger, March 17

As I walked through the glimmering doors of OHS High School, a different sight presented its self to me. Not red, not blue, but green. Then the thought smacked me on the side of the head like a brick. It’s St. Patrick’s Day! Luckily my outfit consisted of a green shirt, which, in the future, would save me from over 50 pinches and possibly a kiss. Today is a great day to be Dailey blogger. After putting my bags in my locker I meandered down the hall to the lunchroom to hear the Dailey gossip. Today’s gossip was very slim for a first, normally I’m used to getting loaded with it on a Monday, but today it was different. I am looking forward to the St. Pat’s weekend and all the fun activates.
Today for English we are presenting our speeches. As everyone may know girls are kind of wussies, so Aurora backed out of going first and Shayne, being the man he is, took her place. I figured listening to these speeches would be easy and I would just have to listen, then Mrs. Morrow handed out a sheet of paper. On this paper we have to write what each speaker did well, one thing you learned, and one thing they could improve on. This is a good thing to do because we can hear our peer’s feedback on our speech. I think Shayne did an amazing job kicking off the next few days of giving speeches. Next Aurora presented. I would have to say out of the two presented they were both really good. I am looking forward to the next few days and hearing everyone’s speeches.
Some people aren’t wearing a piece of green, but for all we know they might be wearing green underwear or even have green snot stain on their sleeve. You better have some green showing or else there will be a painful pinch from Wyatt lurking in the hall way. Rapping up this Dailey blogger entry I must tell you, kiss me im Irish!
