11-27-13 Marissa L.

The eight O’clock bell rang and there was only five hours and thirty minutes of school until we got out for Thanksgiving break. Today was only a short day, and we got out at 1:30. As always we were loud and very talkative especially since it was a half-day! Justin, Shayne, and Wyatt kept going off about how they were going to make a movie over break.

In English we got our notebooks out and wrote about what we were doing for Thanksgiving and how we would celebrate it. Wyatt, Blair, and Aurora all read aloud. Wyatt is going to Grand Island for Thanksgiving. Blair and Aurora are staying in O’Neill for Thanksgiving. Mrs. Morrow also told us that she is going to Grand Island, but she isn’t going until Saturday. She also was talking about that after Thanksgiving she will be running with her family and all of her side is doing some running wherever they are and sending the results all to one person. Mrs. Troester then took some kids to do something with complex sentences, while the rest of us finished posting to canvas. Which is where you post your favorite piece of writing and post to discussions for everyone to see, and the main man would like everyone to add some pictures if they can. Once we got everyone back in the room it was time to do complex sentences. Mrs. Morrow said, “Since all of you guys are extremely social today you are going to do the 2A worksheet with a partner or more.” When you got finished you gave your paper to Mrs. Morrow. After you were finished with everything you read, did something for another class, or did a teenbiz if you hadn’t already did one for the week. Since we still have a good five minutes, we were all together, and it was fresh in our minds we started on 3A worksheet. All you had to do was write different types of complex sentences. The worksheet are due Monday and if you get it done today hand it in. English went by really fast today.

In first period I had science. We watched this video of this kid who makes an obstacle thing to catch a little toy monster. Mr. Morrow said, “That is was just a little inspirational video.” Next we worked on our iBook books, which are due next Thursday, and we will present them in class on the thirteenth of December. Gabbie was my partner that worked with me. All her and I had to do was plug ours in to the iPad and make sure that everything was right. We had to make a few touch ups then I air dropped it to Mr. Morrow, so he and Mrs. Morrow could look over it. Gabbie and I got to do whatever we wanted tell the end of class. By the end of English class we only approximately only have three hours and fifty minutes

Make sure you finish your 3A worksheet by Monday!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Only five hours and thirty minutes of school today!
Make sure you post to the Coffeehouse Forum!

Tayte 11/27/13

Well I'm Daily Blogger today. I really didn't want to be the first dairy blogger for the this third round of of daily blogger. But today in English we had a easy day. First thing we did for English was our daily writing. The thing we had to write about was what we were going to do for thanksgiving. Then we had to make sure everybody posted on canvas for the coffee shop. Mostly everybody got it posted besides Blake. The only reason was cause he wasn't here yesterday. Right now we are working on our complex sentence lesson 2A. We got to have partners to work on the front page. I had Sam as a partner and we got the worksheet done in about 3 minutes. Then we got another worksheet. I guess Mrs.Morrow wants us to work a lot today. Oh and also we get out of school early today! Thats always a good thing. Well everybody is packing up there bags and computers so I better do the same.

Daily Blogger by Brendon 11/26/13

Hello my name is Brendon and today I am the Daily Blogger. Today we were learning about complex sentences and then Mrs. Morrow handed us a worksheet we did one side together and the other side on our own. After we were done with that Mrs. Troester had us post our favorite writing on URL. In science Mr. Morrow had us do a NESA test and then after that we worked on our iBooks author and that is what happened today.

Daily Blogger: Tuesday, November 26

As I walked into the school this morning, it was almost like I was in a different setting. There weren’t any sweat pants or t-shirts. Almost all the girls in eighth grade were dressed up. That’s right, today was game day in Eagle Nation. We played Neligh-Oakdale.
School was the last thing on my mind today. During first period, we spent our time studying for our map test over Russia and the Republics. I wasn’t really all that focused. I spent most of my time talking to Justin, Wyatt, and Haley. Needless to say, Mr. Hesse wasn’t too happy about that. In English class today, we started off with a journal writing. The prompt was what type of grading system you prefer. Your two choices were additive grading, which is a type of grading where you start your grade at zero and work your way up, or the type of grading we use now. It was really interesting to see what people thought on the topic. We also learned a lot about complex sentences. Mrs. Morrow gave us a worksheet over complex sentences, which is due tomorrow. We then moved on to talking about posting a final draft of one of your writings to canvas for the whole writing exchange to see. You aren’t supposed to post it just to your group. We worked on that for about the last twenty minutes of class.
Overall, we had a very successful English class. We also had a very successful night in JH girls basketball. Both teams won by a lot. I can’t wait until our next game!

I wake up this morning ,sleepy, not wanting to get out of bed. But then I remember I have a basketball game against Neighle! I jump out of bed and get my dress up clothes on and straighten my hair.
When I got to school I went to reading class and got my composition book out and get it done quickly, I also get my bookmark done quickly as well. When the bell rang I hurried to Geography class. We worked on our timelines and learned about the Jews and Israel. Then the 3rd bell rang and I went to English class with Briaunna. In English we wrote in our Journals about how we would feel about additive grading instead of punitive grading. I wrote how it probably wouldn’t really change anything.
I can’t wait for tonight’s basketball game. It’s going to be a big game because last year we lost to them twice by 1 point. I cannot wait!

Daily Blogger-Emma Krysl

“The harder you work the luckier you get.”-Gary Player. According to this quote I obviously need to work harder because I got to be the daily blogger today. “I don’t care what day I get, just not today,” I whispered to Blair as Mrs. Morrow was talking. “Today Emma gets to be the daily blogger,” uttered Mrs. Morrow. “Are you kidding me?” At this point in time I realized I was very unlucky.
Waking up this morning wasn’t really easy because it is a Monday. After arriving at school and hearing the bell, I wandered to Geography class with Mr. Hesse. We said the pledge and then did what Mr. Brosz told us to do on the computers. Even with technical difficulties we got done taking the poll. It asked us basic questions about O’Neill Public Schools. Then we saw who has won the coloring contest. Jaden came in at first, Gloria in second, and surprisingly Wyatt in third with his camo hot air balloon. We got to pick partners and “studied” our Russia and The Republics test. Personally I thought more laughing was happening than studying. Once I heard the bell, I bolted out of the room as fast as I could because I wanted to get to my locker before everyone else could.
We were pretty talkative in English at the beginning and once settled down, we wrote in our journals, or “folders” as Blair would say, about how we were persecuted in some way, maybe getting bullied or something along the lines of that. We did this in thinking of a speaker speaking at the O’Neill High School during third and fourth period. The speaker was Carl Wilkens. After that I asked if they knew who won the Daily Blogger Awards. They said yes and we started to go over who had won what. Mrs. Morrow also said that we didn’t nominate kids who really fit in the category, but who were our friends. The contest incorporated the two English classes together. Coming in with the Best Lead was Abbie. Her lead was “The sun exploded in the sky with rays of sunshine for a brand new week of school full of learning!” Best Conclusion was Blair aka Jjac. Her conclusion was “Overall I felt like we had a very successful English class, and I learned a lot about how I could fix my writing.” Best Word Choice went to Nathaniel. Some of his best word choice were, “meager,” “enthusiastic,” and “consisted.” Aurora won the Most Detailed Account of English Class. I’m not going to put her entire Daily Blogger in here, but it was very detailed. Most Entertaining went to Shayne Campbell. I won’t put his in either, but you can almost guess what his is like. Last but not least, Marissa Licchty went home with the Best use of Visuals. She had a picture that showed two stars and one wish. Congrats to everyone who won. Hopefully this round of blogs will top the last. After Mrs. Morrow got done explaining all of this to us, she gave me the dreadful news that I was daily blogger. She passed out papers and told us which days we had. Also, she explained our new grading policy. We won’t start at 100, but at 0 and work our way up with how our blog is. During this Justin got in trouble for messing around at the pencil sharpener. Then Mrs. Gotschall’s voice came over the intercom and told us to take our stuff to our locker and head to the library if we were going to hear Carl Wilkens speak about Rwanda. That was pretty much our entire English class, so that’s when English ended.
The energy of today’s English class did not continue throughout the day to the other classes but remained in room 220. This happens more and more as the school days go on. I don’t know what’s so different about that classroom, but it makes everyone so energetic and comical. Tomorrow the JH Girl A & B basketball teams are home with Neligh and the JH wrestling is @ Ainsworth. I worked really hard on this hoping my bad luck of being the daily blogger won’t last that long. All in all, I feel like we had a very educational English class today.
Brendon asking Mrs. Morrow a question.

November, 19 2013

Today I’m the Daily blogger!  In science we had a test today over evolution in chapter six. In English for our journal. For English we check our blog post to see if they were done. I realized I forgot mine so here it is. After we check our blog post we found out our iBook about Patriotism was waiting to be approved by the book store. Since we hadn't seen the finished copy of our book we looked at that too. After that we took a look at our leads for our letters to a certain author. After that the bell rang, so that makes me not the daily blogger any more, See ya!

Weekend November 19, 2013

Yesterday we finished reading our upfront magazines for Mr. Hessie. In English we reviewed our return letters to the book author that we are writing to weather they are dead or not. In science we took a quiz. Math we have a test. Reading we had vocab. Career and guidance class we watched “pursuit of happiness” which is amazing. And for P.E. we learned the proper ways to work out.  This is what I shot over the weekend.

Tuesday 19th, 2013

In English class today we are finishing this round of daily blogger. Unfortunately, I didn't get it done on the day that I was supposed to which was a long time ago, other wise I am getting a late grade. Back to the positive side of things the junior high wrestling team has a meet in Creighton and will be dismissed at 2:15. The junior high girls have a basketball game against Ainsworth, go big blue. It's about time that winter starts setting in but the temperature is still fairly mild. So even though I have been having a rushed week it seems like the world is still turning for the rest of you.

Today is Thursday, second period English class. We did several things in class today.

We first worked on our personal narrative in our journals. We drew our hand and we wrote inside what we have done with our hands in the past.

A lot of people gave examples of what they did.

2 people at a table said what they are gonna write  to each other about.

Then we worked on are sentence strategy. We did 2A in class and then we did 2B for homework.

Our personal narratives are due Thursday along with sentence strategy.

Outside of English they were talking about no school Wednesday.

If they could fill a fan bus with 45 junior it cost 15 dollars to ride the fan bus also none as the spirit bus.

So in 7th period they announced that there was no school Wednesday shouts of joy were heard.

they also did a pep rally for the softball players at 3:00. That was Thursday October 15.

11-15-13-Emma

Today is Friday and so most people just want school to be over. A lot of people are going hunting and to State Volleyball. Most of the girls are pretty tired and sore from our game last night. We fought hard, but came up short against Atkinson in both A and B team. In history, we took a test over South Asia and then we played Currents Events. Like usual the girls won and Justin and Wyatt got MVP. To start English off we wrote about whatever we wanted to since it is Free Write Friday. Mrs. Morrow then asked about what we wrote about. Then she and Mrs. Troester came and saw who had their first draft done and who didn’t. If you didn’t you had to go with Mrs. Morrow to her room. With the kids who did, Mrs. Troester had us pick partners and we worked on peer review. After we got our peer reviews back we had to download Author’s Note on Blackboard. Once you got done with that you had to post to canvas and copy and paste the author’s note with the blanks filled in. We had to show Mrs. Troester the author’s note before we could leave the room. Overall it was a pretty boring day.

November 14, 2013

Today in English class we continued working on our "Letters About Literature" writing project. Class started off as it always does with journal writing. Today's writing prompt was "what's your favorite movie? And favorite scene in it?" Among the top were as always, The Hunger Games, and a less expected Micky Mouse. Anyways, soon after that we were given a rubric for our letter project. The rubric consisted of all the due dates we would need for the project. Every time a student does what she/he was told on time, points will be added. The 1st thing was the prewriting assignment. Teachers went around and gave points to those who had finished it. Thankfully they were forgiving for the ones who didn't (myself included).

Next, we went through class exercises that helped us get us ready for our 1st draft due tomorrow.  We also went through examples past contest winner's. Then given a paper on the format our letters should be in. We were then given a meager amount of time to work on our 1st drafts.

In other more enthusiastic news the JH boy's wrestling team have their kick off to the season meet @ Plainview with Neligh. While the girl's basketball team is @ West Holt. Their kick off game being just this past Tuesday @ Ewing.

Go Eagles!

Daily Blogger 11-13-13 Mikayla M.

Today we had a pretty uneventful day for English. For our journal we listed some book titles of books that we have read in the recent years. Mrs. Troester had us do this because it was going to lead into our next big project. We are all going to enter into another writing contest. For this contest we have to write an imaginary letter to the author of the book that we chose. In the letter we have to tell some emotions that we felt when we read the book. We also have to write about how the book connected to our lives and changed them. Mrs. Troester read some examples of some letters that had won so we knew what ours were suppose to sound like. One was about a poem a guy had enveloped and how that poem helped him become a man. It also gave him strength to get through his mothers death. That day the high schoolers got to go to an assembly with a guest speaker. Us junior High kids weren't able to go to it because we were to young. Today was a very uneventful day for most people.

Daily Blogger 11/12/13////// Haley Schmeichel

Today I am the daily blogger:(
I am super excited for our basketball game tonight against Ewing! We started off English class by figuring out whose writing didn’t have a name on it. Then we talked about how our pictures need to be drop boxed by tomorrow because today is our last day we work on our Patriotic Essay. After we talked about that we talked about what we do after we are done with everything assigned for English. Then its time to get to work. Today in English class wasn’t too hard. - Haley Schmeichel

November 12, 2013

Today I, Shayne Campbell, am daily blogger! This morning has gone pretty well! Wyatt and I woke up at 5:45 this morning and went and lifted. We do that almost every day. Then we headed to the Cafeteria to eat breakfast with our classmates. The bell rang at 8 and we headed to science class. We reviewed all class and taped our thumbs so we could understand what it would be like to not have opposable thumbs. It was tough to type and do other stuff. Then at the end of class we finished up our vocabulary keynotes that are due tomorrow Wednesday 13, 2013. In English Mrs. Troester took the kids that were having a tough time with sentence writing strategy to the library to finish up. The rest of us stayed in the classroom with Mrs. Morrow to finish planning our “Patriot’s Pen” iBook. We had to do several things to get it prepared, one of them being that we had to make an intro video to drive traffic to the book in the Apple bookstore. We also needed to write a thank you to the veterans that spoke to us on Friday. Mrs. Morrow also gave us the option that we could do some free writing poetry that would “jazz” up the book. Mrs. Morrow made us choose what we wanted to do to help the iBook be better. Justin and I chose to read another persons iBook on WWII. It was very interesting and it told us about what his life is like now and what it used to be like. Some other people chose other things to help the iBook out. One example of what you could choose would be to write some poetry to make the book even more interesting. Some of us, including me, got to be in the intro video for the iBook. We wrapped up English class with the finishing of our intro video. That is how my morning went!

Today I am the daily blogger!! Today is Veterans Day! Today we went to a Veterans Day program at St. Mary's High school. All of the veterans were there. We talked about how and why they were in the war. In English we worked on our Patriotism pictures, we had little time but enough time to work on our pictures. Some students had their pictures done some did, but if you had your picture done you can work on google docs.

Wednesday, November 6 - Julia Bauer

Today we had a late start, so we started our day off with English. We started making an ibook about Patriotism, and since we had already wrote our own essays all we needed to do was add a little life to it. Each person got to pick out what they were going to do to go along with their story. We could choose to do something on the IPad or on our computer, but it had to make sense if you put it with our essay. I chose to Photoshop a picture. After school, I had a tough basketball practice with lots of running involved. It was another exciting day at OHS!

Tuesday, November 5th - Ehric Strope

Today in English, we had the plagiarism talk. Long story short: don’t plagiarize. Also, Mrs. Morrow present the idea that we put all of our patriotism essays together into an ibook. She told us to be thinking about visuals that we could put with our writing to add to it and make it more unique. In addition to this, she asked what we would think of putting our book into the ibook market place for $0.99 and donating all the proceeds to Nebraska Troop Support. Thus, the plagiarism talk became vary important, because nobody wants to get sued for selling pictures or writing that belongs to somebody else. In addition, the idea arose to put copies of our book into care packages for the troops. In other news, lunch today is organ chicken and whole grain rice, BBQ rib sandwich, or oriental salad and breadstick, also steamed broccoli and fortune cookies will be served.

11-6-13 "English" Mileena

Today we didn't have English class because it was a late start. That means my first class was Social Studies. In social studies we went over our packet that was due today and had a test over Central America. Today at 2:00 PM it was Reading,  all we did was read our book "Lost and Found", answer questions on the board, write our word definitions in the Steno Pad, and then finally worked on our Book Study. So, that is pretty much what we did on our late start.
Here are some slides on Central America that we worked on today. Have a great afternoon everyone!

Today, I am daily blogger! In English class talked about how some of our classmates were copying essays from the internet.  Mrs. Morrow told us what the consequences from doing this were.  Afters he got done telling us about this subject, she talked about how we need to give credits to the person who owns the picture  She showed us some of the pages where we can get pictures where the owner lets us take them.  We talked about how we need to give credits to the owner of the picture if we use it!

Daily Blogger- Gabbie

In English class today we started off with writing in our journals. We wrote about our plans in the future and what exactly we wanted to do in life. Then we got our personal narratives back, edited them a bit, and edited our narratives on our blog. The feedback for canvas is due Thursday. In reading class, Inkheart has finally gotten to its most exciting point in the book. We had a one question quiz about our reading for last week. The girls also found out who was on A & B team for basketball. This was a recap of English class and a bit more of the day. 10-4-13

Posting Our Narratives On Our English Blogs

Today I am the daily blogger! I am very tired because of the time change. Today when I got to school I remember that the A and B teams for basketball would be posted in the locker room. I went in there to check with Emma and I found out I am on the A team again! I am pretty excited for this year’s basketball season. Today in English we are revising and editing our Personal Narratives and giving feedback to the people in our group.

Daily Blogger! :)

Today I am daily blogger and I am so excited about it! Today everyone is tired and everyone feels they needs to go home and sleep including me. Although today in English we had a free write Friday, we also finished our Patriot’s Pen essay and posted them to canvas.  I really liked my essay I put a lot of work into it and I believe it turned out fantastic! After all of that was done we were able to go onto our personal blogs and watch our classmates “The Brand of Me” videos for the first time ever, because youtube got unblocked.

In Algebra today we were learning how to find the slope of a line. Which at first I really didn't understand. After a while I got it, it's easy its just rise over run. I have had a great day and I hope you do too.

In English class today we wrote in our journal about what patriotism means to me. After that we had to write the first draft of our “What patriotism means to me?” essay. Everyone tried his or her best at it. Hopefully I will be able to do a great job on it. Then after English class I went to science and we worked on a worksheet about our subject. I got done with it a couple of minutes later. I Feel as though the essays will be amazing and that the science worksheet will be correct (hopefully).

Daily Blogger - Wyatt Liewer

Today is a wonderful day to be daily blogger. We started off the school day with some geography questions in Mr. Hesse’s class. Of course the boys beat the girls. After that in English class we wrote Free Write Friday for our writing journal. After that we moved on to our Patriots Pen Essay's. Today will be our final day to revise our essay. We are handing them in today to our teachers and the VFW. When we hand them in we had to have a whole packet of all the papers we needed and they had to be in a specific order. We had some trouble with the printer while we where printing off our essay, but we got it figured out. Everyone logged onto black board to download a word document to help us write our author’s note. We are also posting them to Canvas after we get our author’s note done. Every kid in our English class is hoping to win this contest. I think it would be a pretty awesome experience to win it. Personally I thought today was a pretty easy day in English class.
