by Mrs. Morrow

To quote Nathaniel and Mr. Morrow, "Things sure seemed a lot brighter" on Wednesday morning.  We all believed it was due to being school picture day.  In addition to everyone dressing up, adding those extra curls, and smiling for the camera, we also had a busy day in English 8 at OHS.

The most important task of the day was getting this, our class blog, off and rolling for another year.  We attempted to add our OPS Google email addresses to our mail app in order to accept Mrs. Morrow's invitation to become co-authors of the class blog.  Network difficulties hampered us a bit, especially in second period, but students patiently worked through the troubles and now have two working blogs in their Blogger dashboards.  We added our assigned Daily Blogger dates to our calendar, set a notification, and talked about what makes a great blog post.  Tomorrow Justin and Daisy will be the inaugural student bloggers for this school year.

In addition, we have started "Sentence Writing Strategy" to be able to identify and craft better sentences.  To start "Simple Sentences" we reviewed subjects, predicates, independent clauses, infinitives, prepositional phrases... all that super-exciting grammar stuff that everyone is just dying to learn! By the end of the week we should be able to identify simple sentences by one of four formulas: SV, SSV, SVV, or SSVV.

No one broke the photographer's camera so all in all it was a successful day at OHS!
