The day started off dreary, with it only being the second
day back form break.
In English we started the hot tips for compelling sentences
for the rest of the year. Today for this we had to combine four short choppy
sentences to make one better sentence. The four choppy ones were, the tornado
struck, it struck without warning, it caused damage, the damage was extensive.
I combined them like this:
The tornado struck without warning causing extensive damage.
Next we started our DGP (daily grammar practice). We had to
identify the parts of speech in a sentence. We learned about vi and vt (Intransitive
and transitive verbs). After that we started to work on our first descriptive
writing over an object that is important to us. We read two examples of
descriptive writings.
Later on today we will have the geography bee at 1:30. Since
the bee starts during the class period I have Mr.Hostert I have to help set up,
or at least just hand out programs. I hope to see several of you there!
