Do
you ever wake up and want to roll over and go back to sleep? Well that’s how I
felt one this awful Monday morning. Luckily, I woke up and came to school or I
would be in some big trouble with the school and my mom! I walked down the cold
and stinky halls to my first period class, science. We were having a discussion
about JH track records. Mr. Morrow demanded that Ehric and I go and look at
them. So of course we took full advantage of the glorifying opportunity of
getting out of some class! When we returned exactly 251 seconds later he had an
assignment waiting for us. So much for thinking today was going to be an easy
Monday, not! It was about Continental Drift, so it wasn’t too tough. Phew I
passed first period in my goal to conquer the horrible Monday!
The
bell rang at 8:49:17 and I grabbed my computer and ran to English! Yes, I ran
because I was excited about revising our Descriptive Object Essays. First we
had to do our Hot Tips #4. Hot Tips is a daily sentence practice that helps you
write better and more effective sentences. Next we had to start our new Daily
Grammar Practice. Daily Grammar Practice is another worksheet that we do
everyday to help us with our writing strategies so that we can all work towards
being better writers. Now I am going to be honest, I am not the best at DGP. I
have a hard time picking out the adjectives and verbs and then to decide what
kind of verb they are! Jeez who do these teachers think we are super heroes? We
have just started working on our Descriptive Object Essays. Today, we worked on
revising our essays. We also corrected some other example essays so that we
would know what we needed to do to improve our essays. I am finally starting to
enjoy writing!
I
am finally starting to conquer this very dreaded Monday morning. Now don’t
start thinking that I am falling “in love” with school because I definitely am
not! Today has been pretty fun though! Mr. Morrow made first period pretty
interesting because we talked about track records and then Continental Drift.
Before today I really didn’t understand what Continental Drift was, but now I
am starting to understand the history of Continental Drift. English was great!
Mrs. Troester and Mrs. Morrow always set us up with the tools that we will need
to have success and that is why we have so many exceptional writers in the 8th
grade! So far this Monday has been exceptional! Now I know this may be a little
late more like thirteen days late, but Happy New Year! 2013 was great, but lets
make 2014 better!
